No type of fence is 100% safe. Horses are unpredictable animals. However, some types of fence are more dangerous to horses than others. We're going to look at some photos found on the Web and decide ... safe, or unsafe?

Woven wire with barbed top strand.
Barbed wire fence has its place and purpose. It is pretty darn good cattle fence.
It has no place in the horse world, except for possibly a reference for tooling the skirts of a custom Western saddle.
I believe providing the safest fence available—within our budgetary constraints—is one of the most important things we can do for our equine companions.
